Ellembelle District Assembly Holds Public Hearing on Budget

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Ellembelle District Assembly has organised a day’s public hearing on its Medium-Term Development Plan Budget, a four-year Corporate Strategic Plan from 2026 to 2029 to chart a new path for development.

The event, attended by a cross-section of stakeholders in the district, afforded them the opportunity to make inputs into developmental projects and activities earmarked for communities and institutions in the area.

Mr Theophilus Tamatey-Agbo, the District Planning Officer, said the Assembly needed GHc453,020 million to execute the medium-term plan.

Outlining the annual action plans on key projects to be executed within the four-year term, Mr Tamatey-Agbo said the Assembly had earmarked 137 activities to be dotted across the district in the year 2026.

He explained that in 2027 the assembly was expected to execute 120 projects, while in 2028 a total of 101 projects were expected to be executed and that 121 projects would be executed in 2029.

Mr Tamatey-Agbo said the government would first tackle old projects started by the previous government before tackling new ones for the present government.

He said the Assembly had conducted feasibility studies to know which towns deserved what projects.

Mr Tamatey-Agbo mentioned, development and livelihood empowerment, water and sanitation infrastructural development, educational services and infrastructural development, health services and infrastructural development, and sanitation improvement and environmental sustainability.

The others are road maintenance strategy, electrification expansion, lighting and security, telecommunication improvement as well as governance and administration as the nine (9) thematic programmes of action to be implemented under the four-year development plan.

Mr Joseph Armah Agyekum, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle, whose speech was read for him, gave an assurance that “At least 80 per cent of the projects would have been captured by the end of the four years.

He said the Assembly would continue to engage more with companies in the area for their assistance in the execution of physical projects and programmes, as well as skills development training.

Mr Awumbilla Salifu of the Public Affairs Department at ADAMUS Resources Limited, advised the District Assembly to foster strategic partnership with all companies in Ellembelle for assistance to execute projects and programmes as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.

He also stressed the urgent need for proper engagement with the companies on needs assessment in their catchment areas to execute the right projects and programmes.
