Africa-Press – Ghana. Ghana Developing Communities Association (GDCA), a Tamale-based NGO, has held its 41st Annual General Meeting (AGM) to review its performance over the past year and deliberate on strategic priorities.

The AGM, held at Dalun in the Kumbungu District of the Northern Region, was attended by members of the organisation and its subsidiary organisations and key stakeholders.

Reports presented during the AGM showed that GDCA implemented seven projects during the year under review (2024), all of which aimed at promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life for communities across the northern part of the country.

The projects, which cut across several thematic areas and had been carried out in partnership with local and international stakeholders, were Support to strengthen social cohesion in strategic cross-border territories (PARCS), stable coin-based solution for community finance (HARAKA), and the 10$ Spark-Igniting Transformation through Male Champions.

The rest were Feed the Future Resilience in Northern Ghana (RING II) Systems Strengthening Activity, Empowerment for Life Programme, European Solidarity Cooperation Human Aid Volunteering, and Citizen-led Action for Educational Accountability and Responsiveness in Ghana.

During the period, the organisation was also awarded as the Best Organisation in Partnership and Collaborative Development in recognition of its outstanding work in community development in the northern part of the country.

Dr Osman Al-Hassan, Chairman, Governing Board of GDCA, speaking during the AGM, said the organisation’s interventions impacted over 50,000 lives during the year under review.

Dr Al-Hassan said, “Our capacity building programmes have empowered countless community members with the tools and knowledge needed to actively shape their development.

He added that “Through targeted skills training and entrepreneurship support especially for young people and women, we have witnessed the transformative power of local innovation, resilience and self-determination.”

He said, “Through savings groups, micro-credit schemes and financial literacy trainings, we have not only enhanced the economic independence of rural women but also strengthened their voices in household and community decision-making spaces.”

Madam Rosina Zenabu Abdul Rahman, Nanton District Chief Executive, commended GDCA for its impactful interventions over the years, which had helped shape the lives of many people, especially in the northern part of the country.

She said she was a direct beneficiary of the educational intervention implemented by School for Life, which is a subsidiary of GDCA.

She said GDCA was integral in terms of its contributions to the overall development of the country, urging it to continue its impactful interventions to transform lives.

Meanwhile, reports presented by representatives of three auditing firms; Sappor & Agyekwena Chartered Accountants, Nexia Debrah and Co Chartered Accountants, and Iddris Consult, which audited the accounts of the organisation, said GDCA kept proper books of account of its projects over the period.
