Africa-Press – Ghana. Young models Puriel Sarpong and Alvin Amfo Boakye were named Overall Female and Male Models of the Year, respectively, at the fourth Ghana Models Awards Juniors held in Accra.
The ceremony, which took place at the Mikkaddo Conference Centre, recognised emerging talent in the modelling industry. A total of 17 awards were presented.
Mr Jerry Wonder Sampson, founder and executive director of the Ghana Models Awards, said the event was designed to highlight potential rather than competition.
“This is not a talent show or a contest,” Sampson said. “We focus on the potential of each child to become an icon. That’s why voting is not open to the public and talent is not the main criterion.”
Young female modelling sensation Sarpong expressed gratitude upon receiving her award. “I thank Almighty God and everyone who came to support me,” she said.
Organisers said only winners were invited to celebrate their achievements with family this year.
