Africa-Press – Ghana. Ms Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, the Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive in the Bono Region has led a delegation from the Wenchi Traditional Council to the Presidency.
They were at the state house to officially invite President John Dramani Mahama to attend the pre-burial and final funeral rites (Doteyie) of the late paramount queen mother of Wenchi, Atoa Otonsuo Tweewa Seramangyedua III, scheduled for Saturday 1, to Sunday 30, November 2025.
The late Seramangyedua III died on June 13, 2025, after a short illness. She was 95 years old.
The delegation comprised Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoampong Tabrako III, the Paramount Chief of the Wenchi Traditional Area, Nana Damoah Adusi Poku Koasane IV, the Chief Linguist, Nana Ampem Agyei Gyan Ankama Dadaa IV, the Benkumhene (sub-chief) and Nana Opoku Agyemang Asumadu II, the Nkonsiahene (sub-chief).
Others include Ambassador Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo, the Bono Regional Chairman of NDC, also the Board Chairman of the Bui Power Authority, Mr Sammy Gyamfi, the Chairman of the Gold Board and Mr Godfred Yeboah Dame, the former Attorney General, among others.
Speaking in an interview at Wenchi FM, Ms Opoku said the delegation did not meet the President. However, the Chief of Staff Mr Julius Debrah welcomed them to the presidency and warmly received the invitation.
Known in private life as Abena Nsia Boatemaa, the late Seramangyedua III was enstooled on January 7, 1977, and reigned for 48 years and she was the sixth child of her parents.
As required by tradition and customs, the Wenchi Traditional Council has ordered residents to wear funeral attire of either black or red during the funeral rites.
Nana Owusu Ameyaw Ababio, the Head of Ahenfie Yefiri Royal Family, told that all residents were expected to comply with the directive in order not to find troubles for themselves.
