Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Joseph Agyekum, has won the confidence of the 52 Assembly members to lead as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle.
He received 100 per cent endorsement from the 52 Members of the Assembly made up of 16 government appointees and 36 elected Assembly Members.
His confirmation followed a secret ballot in an election conducted and supervised by Madam Pearl Klutse, the District Electoral Officer.
Her Worship Awo Amissah French, the Ellembelle District Magistrate, administered the oath of office, allegiance and secrecy to the new government appointees and charged them to discharge their new mandate with zeal and dedication.
Mr Joseph Nelson, Western Regional Minister, was grateful that the President’s nominees for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Western Region, had so far received 100 percent approval.
Mr Nelson noted that the smooth confirmation of MMDCEs would speed up the rapid socio-economic development at the grassroots.
In an acceptance speech, the new DCE for Ellembelle, Mr Joseph Agyekum thanked Assembly Members and the NDC party hierarchy saying that he would not take the confidence reposed in him for granted but work harder to Fastrack development of Ellembelle.
He also thanked President John Dramani Mahama for nominating him as the DCE for the area promising to work assiduously in merit of the position.
He pledged his commitment to serve with dedication and integrity in the discharge of his ditties. said it was his vision to collaborate with all stakeholders to address the challenges facing the district.
Mr Agyekum appealed to all to bury their political differences and forge ahead in unity in their collective resolve to put the Ellembelle District on a higher pedestal.
The DCE reminded all stakeholders that development could only thrive in peace, love and unity and called for all hands-on deck to achieve a prosperous future for Ellembelle.
Mr Agyekum said that he could not fail the good people of Ellembelle but work collectively with stakeholders to propel the rapid development of the district.
On behalf of the Assembly Members, Mr Paul Kodwo Kwaw, the Assembly Member for Kikam electoral area, pledged their readiness to ensure a successful reign of the new DCE.
