Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Yilo Krobo Traditional Council, under the leadership of Oklepeme Nuer Anorbah Sasraku II, has launched the 33rd Kloyosikplemi Festival in Somanya, with a strong call for cultural revival and sustainable tourism.<\/b><\/p>\n

This year\u2019s celebration, themed \u201cCultural Revival for Sustainable Tourism and Growth,\u201d brought together chiefs, queen mothers, residents of Yilo Krobo, and invited guests.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering, the Paramount Chief of the Yilo Krobo Traditional Area, Oklepeme Nuer Anorbah Sasraku II, said the festival must play a pivotal role in fostering peace, unity, and collective responsibility for the development of the Yilo people.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must allow peace to reign among ourselves, respect one another, and focus on development to bring positive change to Yilo Krobo,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

He announced that one day within the festival period in November would be observed as \u201cPeace and Love Day.\u201d<\/p>\n

On that day, households are expected to cook meals and invite friends, family, and even those they may conflict with to eat together as a sign of reconciliation and unity.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you are at loggerheads with someone, go to their house and resolve the issue, because what matters most is peace and harmony towards the growth of the Yilo community,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The chief further stressed that disputes holding back development must come to an end if the area is to make progress.<\/p>\n

He also declared a ban on funerals during the festival, warning that anyone who violates the directive will face serious repercussions.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you disrespectfully disregard this order, you are not only disrespecting me as chief, but the entire Yilo Krobo community,\u201d he said, cautioning that, \u201cTradition and laws must be respected, and if you fail to obey, you will be dealt with.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Edmund Kofi Armah, a member of the festival planning committee, also announced that November has been declared as Festival Month.<\/p>\n

He said activities lined up include a health walk and cleanup exercise, Remembrance Day for forefathers, visits to homes of the aged, a cultural night, Miss Yilo pageant, the Kloyosikplemi Trade Fair, and a grand durbar.<\/p>\n

He noted that the festival would also be used to showcase the tourism potential of Yilo Krobo, including waterfalls, the Umbrella Rock, bead-making traditions, and other cultural assets.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdequate security measures would be put in place to ensure the safety of participants\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The annual Kloyosikplemi Featival is celebrated in remembrance of how the forefathers of Yilo Krobo were evicted from their ancestral homes on the mountain along the Tema\u2013Akosombo Road.<\/p>\n

Over time, it has grown beyond a mere festival, becoming a proud celebration of Krobo heritage, unity, and resilience.<\/p>\n
