Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Accra, Nov.12- Mr Benito Owusu-Bio, a Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources in charge of Forestry, has urged the Ghana Boundary Commission to make its relevance be felt through regular media engagements.<\/p>\n

He said despite the crucial role the Commission played in protecting the country’s boundaries, its presence and importance was unknown to most Ghanaians due to inactive media engagements.<\/p>\n

Mr Owusu-Bio therefore urged the Commission to work towards ensuring that Ghanaians appreciated its role in the development of the country. \u201cWe want you to work hard so that Ghanaians will realise and see the benefits of the Boundary Commission.<\/p>\n

“Those of you who are young have also been presented with a huge opportunity to start afresh with a new Commission. In some years to come, one of you may even end up being the national coordinator.<\/p>\n

“Don\u2019t let this opportunity pass you by,” Mr Owusu-Bio added.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Minister made these remarks when he paid a working visit to the offices of the Ghana Boundary Commission in Accra, where he lauded the Military arm of the Commission for its discipline and encouraged it to keep up the good work.<\/p>\n

He also assured of the Ministry and Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor’s support in terms of making resources available to execute its mandate. The National Coordinator of the Ghana Boundary Commission, Major General Emmanuel Kotia, thanked the Deputy Minister for the visit and appealed for more government support.<\/p>\n

He called on them to expedite action on the new Act to enable the Commission execute its mandate effectively. Major Gen. Kotia noted that a new Act would give powers to the Commission to settle the country’s internal border disputes.<\/p>\n
