{"id":116804,"date":"2026-04-04T11:09:37","date_gmt":"2026-04-04T11:09:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ghana\/uncategorized\/nrsa-mttd-gnfs-joint-enforcement-on-eastern-corridor-road"},"modified":"2026-04-04T12:00:51","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T12:00:51","slug":"nrsa-mttd-gnfs-joint-enforcement-on-eastern-corridor-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ghana\/all-news\/nrsa-mttd-gnfs-joint-enforcement-on-eastern-corridor-road","title":{"rendered":"NRSA MTTD GNFS Joint Enforcement on Eastern Corridor Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"ap-article-header-tag\"> <strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Ghana. <\/strong> <\/span><b>The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) together with the Police MTTD, and the Ghana National Fire Service on Thursday April 2, conducted a joint enforcement exercise on the Eastern Corridor Road ahead of the Easter festivities.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>During the operations, drivers were checked for valid driver licenses, insurance, and roadworthy certificates to promote road safety and ensure a safe holiday season.<\/p>\n<p>The passengers were also educated and encouraged to speak up when drivers were not adhering to road safety regulations as part of passenger empowerment.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 157 unapproved lamps were removed on the vehicles during the exercise.<\/p>\n<p>Some recalcitrant drivers in defiance smashed their lights and threw them into the bush to prevent personnel from collecting them.<\/p>\n<p>The team cautioned drivers against speeding, wrongful over-taking and driving tired whilst riders were cautioned against overloading, speeding and the important need to wear helmets when riding.<\/p>\n<p>Madam Joana Fafa Ayer, Volta Regional Director of the NRSA told the Ghana News Agency after the exercise that the operation formed part of activities to promote an incident free Easter.<\/p>\n<p>She disclosed that the next enforcement exercise would be undertaken at Sogakofe on Friday, April 3, 2026, urging all stakeholders to come onboard to ensure safety on the road.<\/p>\n<p>Madam Ayer reminded road users that road safety was a collective and shared responsibility, adding that all road users should be intentional about their safety on the road to protect lives during the Easter period and beyond.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ap-article-footer-note\">Find more news and analyses on <span class=\"ap-highlight-country\">Ghana<\/span> on the <span class=\"ap-highlight-brand\">Africa Press<\/span> website<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Ghana.
