{"id":117069,"date":"2026-04-13T10:25:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T10:25:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ghana\/uncategorized\/fda-advises-against-consuming-fish-from-tema-shipyard"},"modified":"2026-04-13T10:49:52","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T10:49:52","slug":"fda-advises-against-consuming-fish-from-tema-shipyard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ghana\/all-news\/fda-advises-against-consuming-fish-from-tema-shipyard","title":{"rendered":"FDA Advises against Consuming Fish from Tema Shipyard"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Ghana. <\/strong><\/span><b>The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has advised the public not to consume, harvest, or purchase fish or seafood from the Tema Shipyard or adjacent areas until further notice.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The alert follows recent discovery of dead fishes within a 50-metre radius of the main unloading ramp at the site.<\/p>\n<p>In a joint release copied to Ghana News Agency on Saturday, the FDA, Fisheries Commission, Tema Metropolitan Assembly, and the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service said the area had been secured as investigation continued to determine the cause.<\/p>\n<p>The incident was first reported on April 6, between 0500 and 0600 hours, the release said.<\/p>\n<p>It said fish from certified cold-chain markets outside the affected zone remained safe when cooked to an internal temperature of 63\u00b0C or above.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no evidence so far of deliberate sabotage or an immediate widespread health emergency.
