Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Traders at the Paga market in the Kassena-Nankana West District have honoured Mr Wenowome Duriyem Aborah, Managing Director of Kacstone Records for renovating dilapidated sheds at the market and bringing relief to hundreds of women traders.<\/b><\/p>\n

The gesture, undertaken with private funds amounting to Gh\u00a224,258.00, had restored dignity and safety to the market space, which for years had exposed traders, mostly women to harsh weather conditions.<\/p>\n

Ms Samitu Kumuriwo, Spokesperson for the Paga Market Traders Association, addressing the media at a mini durbar organised by the market women to honour Kacstone Records, said the intervention came at a critical time when the traders had exhausted all avenues in seeking support.<\/p>\n

\u201cYears ago, this place was in a bad state. We reported the situation to the Assembly, but we were told there were no funds to fix the shed,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She explained that the traders had to endure severe hardship, especially during rainfall.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen it rained, we had nowhere to seek shelter. We had to run helter-skelter looking for a place to hide, but there was none,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Ms Kumuriwo said the situation compelled the market leadership and members to mobilise and seek external support, which led to the intervention by Mr Aborah<\/p>\n

\u201cHe came, assessed the situation and said he could not allow us, his mothers and sisters to continue suffering. Today, we are very happy because we now have a proper roof over our heads,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n

The Association presented a citation to Mr Aborah in recognition of his \u201cExceptional generosity, selfless leadership and remarkable support\u201d in restoring the market sheds.<\/p>\n

The citation reads, \u201cFor your exceptional generosity, selfless leadership and remarkable support in restoring our market shed. At a time when hope was low and funds were not available. You stepped forward in your own initiative providing all materials and sponsoring the entire work. Your kindness has brought relief, comfort and renewed strength to every trader. We are proud of you and we are grateful\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mr Aborah expressed gratitude to the traders for the recognition, noting that the project was a joint effort with the legendary Michael Adangba, Kacstone Record lead artist.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did not do it alone. I worked together with my father, Mr Michael Adangba. We dedicate this to God and appreciate the honour done to us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He acknowledged the critical role market women play in sustaining households and local economies, and pledged to continue supporting community development.<\/p>\n

\u201cSupporting you is not only about kindness but also about investing in homes and communities,\u201d he stated, while appealing for prayers from the traders.<\/p>\n

Mr Aborah also reflected on his personal connection to the market.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrowing up, I used to harvest and sell fruits here to survive. For more than 20 years, the market remained in this condition, and I found it unsafe for women and children. That is why I felt someone had to act,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On his part, Mr Michael Adangba expressed appreciation for the recognition given to the group, noting that although the work done may appear modest to outsiders, it carries deep significance for those involved.<\/p>\n

He emphasised that meaningful support does not necessarily come from abundance, but from a willing and compassionate heart, commending Abora for demonstrating generosity and commitment to the community.<\/p>\n

He urged members to remain united and to prioritise understanding and dialogue when challenges arise. According to him, sustaining progress will depend on their ability to maintain harmony and allow reason to guide decisions, especially in moments of disagreement.<\/p>\n
