Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Mr Stephen Adom, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ho, has undertaken an extensive inspection tour of selected roads in the municipality to assess areas requiring pedestrian walkways and other safety improvements.<\/b><\/p>\n

The exercise, carried out on April 13, formed part of measures to enhance road safety, accessibility and urban mobility within the municipality.<\/p>\n

Mr Adom said the initiative was aimed at ensuring that roads in Ho were not only motorable but also safe and convenient for pedestrians.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important that our roads serve everyone, including schoolchildren, traders and the elderly, who rely heavily on safe walkways,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

During the inspection, the MCE identified several critical road stretches, including the Nursing Training Junction through Medical Village to Mawuli Gate, which currently lack pedestrian pavements.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is worrying that along these key roads, pedestrians are forced to share space with vehicles, exposing them to danger,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

Other areas inspected included the K.K. House to Ahoe stretch, Jubilee Park through Flat Junction to Lokoe, and the Residency to the Old Traffic Lights corridor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are important routes within the municipality, and they must be developed to ensure both vehicular movement and pedestrian safety,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Mr Adom also expressed concern about the bush canteen area around the Old Traffic Lights, describing it as overgrown and a sanitation risk.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will ensure that this area is cleared, with proper gutters and pavements constructed to improve sanitation and prevent weed overgrowth,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Adom explained that findings from the inspection would be compiled into a comprehensive report to guide the design, analysis and budgeting for the proposed projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll findings will be submitted to the appropriate authorities to inform interventions and ensure proper planning,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He emphasised that the initiative was in line with broader plans to build a more organised, inclusive and pedestrian-friendly municipality.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are committed to creating a safer and better Ho for all, and this requires collective effort from stakeholders and residents,\u201d Mr Adom said.<\/p>\n
