{"id":117479,"date":"2026-04-21T06:54:56","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T06:54:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ghana\/uncategorized\/agyeman-rawlings-family-consoles-general-nunoo-mensah"},"modified":"2026-04-21T07:42:43","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T07:42:43","slug":"agyeman-rawlings-family-consoles-general-nunoo-mensah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ghana\/all-news\/agyeman-rawlings-family-consoles-general-nunoo-mensah","title":{"rendered":"Agyeman-Rawlings Family Consoles General Nunoo-Mensah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Ghana. <\/strong><\/span><b>The Agyeman-Rawlings Family has visited General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah, a former Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) Member and his family to console him over the loss of his wife, Margaret Nunoo-Mensah, who passed in February.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A statement issued by the Office of former President Rawlings said the Delegation was led by Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle.<\/p>\n<p>Other Members of the Delegation include Madam Yaa Asantewaa Agyeman-Rawlings and Madam Amina Agyeman-Rawlings.<\/p>\n<p>In consoling the Nunoo-Mensah family, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings said the visit was to honour the relations that were built \u201cbefore us\u201d between the two families.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are here because we understand the true value of friendship and we do express our sincere condolences to the family. Relationships matter; friendship matter,\u201d Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings said.<\/p>\n<p>General Nunoo-Mensah, a former Chief of Defence Staff during the PNDC and later National Security Advisor under President John Evans Atta Mills, said it was comforting that the Agyeman-Rawlings family had visited at a time when they were also enduring the pain of losing their mother.<\/p>\n<p>He recalled his special relations with President Jerry John Rawlings and regaled the meeting with memorable times spent with the late former President.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very grateful,\u201d General Nunoo Mensah stated.<\/p>\n<p>General Nunoo-Mensah was joined at the meeting by his children, Ben Nunoo-Mensah, Joseph Nunoo-Mensah, Fred Nunoo-Mensah and Amanda Nunoo-Mensah.<\/p>\n<p>General Nunoo-Mensah was appointed Chief of Defence Staff by the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) in 1979.<\/p>\n<p>He was a member of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) which took power in 1981.<\/p>\n<p>In 2009 he was appointed the National Security Advisor by President Atta Mills.<\/p>\n<p>General Nunoo-Mensah and Margaret Nunoo-Mensah were married on 10th August 1968.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Ghana<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Ghana.
