Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Kumasi, Dec. 09- The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate is urging the public not to let the fear of contracting the COVID-19 virus scare them away from seeking medical attention at Health facilities.<\/p>\n

Dr. Michael Rockson Adjei, the Deputy Director in charge of Public Health (DDPH) who gave the assurance, said the safety of clients in every health facility was guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi, Dr. Adjei said adequate measures had been put in place to ensure the safety of both patients and health workers in all health facilities in the region.<\/p>\n

He said all that patients needed to do was to observe basic protocols at the facilities and that health workers had been trained to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other diseases while attending to patients.<\/p>\n

The outbreak of the pandemic, he noted, had not in any way affected all routine services provided by the facilities and urged the public not to hesitate in accessing healthcare when the need arose.<\/p>\n

He said COVID-19 had only added to the services being provided by the facilities and must not be a reason for people to avoid the hospital environment.<\/p>\n

“We have even strengthened safety measures in all our facilities from the CHPS Compound to the hospital, following the outbreak of COVID-19 so there is no need for patients to panic because their health and safety is our concern,” he assured.<\/p>\n

Dr Adjei also stressed the need for the public to take the COVID-19 vaccine to increase their protection from the virus, saying that the vaccines were safe, efficacious, and available in all the 43 districts in the Region.<\/p>\n

He further called on the public to take part in the vaccination exercise to collectively reduce the risk of transmission, especially during this festive season.<\/p>\n
