Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Akosombo (E\/R), Jan. 22- The Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana has inducted over 70 new members at its 28th Annual General Meeting at Akosombo in the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n

Forty-two of the total are associate members, and the rest are accredited members. They were inducted by Mr Mawuko Afadzinu, President of the IPR, who welcomed them and asked that they use their expertise to contribute to nation-building.<\/p>\n

Mr Gayheart Mensah, Chairman of the Professional Development, Education and Accreditation Committee of the Institute, said the IPR remained the \u201cstandard-bearer\u201d of PR in the country and would continue to maintain an assaying process that would ensure quality membership.<\/p>\n

He announced plans to introduce a pre-accreditation course to grant membership to persons outside the practice, noting that the Association had grown attractive to the corporate world.<\/p>\n

Madam Fatimatu Abubakar, Deputy Minister for Information, who opened the annual general meeting, reiterated the government\u2019s commitment to the PR platform in keeping the public well informed.<\/p>\n

She commended the Institute for supporting the developmental agenda. The AGM is on the theme: \u201cTruth Well Told and Shared\u201d, and was attended by members of the Institute from across the corporate environment.<\/p>\n

Rev. Dr Joyce Aryee, Founder of Salt and Light Ministries, who chaired the opening ceremony, called on PR practitioners to help preserve the Nation\u2019s reputation and save it from deepening the tribal divide.<\/p>\n
