Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span> The Ho West District Assembly has embarked on a tree planting exercise to safeguard water bodies in the area. The district, in the last three years, planted 46,000 Afram trees and planned to plant 50,000 and 30,000 Afram and mahogany trees respectively this year.<\/p>\n

Mr Ernest Victor Apau, the District Chief Executive (DCE), who announced this at a meeting with the Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, said some of the trees would be planted along the district Highways.<\/p>\n

The meeting formed part of the Regional Minister’s six-day tour of the 18 municipal and district assemblies in the Region to encourage them and address some weaknesses in the system to enhance productivity.<\/p>\n

Mr Apau said the Assembly would not relent on its efforts to carry out projects that would benefit the people and cited the new district’s offices of the National Health Insurance Scheme and the Ghana National Fire Service as some of the projects being done using the Common Fund.<\/p>\n

The Regional Minister asked the DCE to ensure that the sub-structures of the assembly would work effectively, saying the sub-structures were crucial for local governance and revenue generation.<\/p>\n

He commended staff and management of the assembly for their commitment and dedication to work and urged them to continue with the good work to improve the lives of the people.<\/p>\n

Dr Letsa charged management to be fair to all staff and treated them equally, making sure every staff felt part of the team so they could collectively achieve their objectives.<\/p>\n
