Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Former Ghana international John Paintsil, says the Ghana Football Association (GFA) should consider appointing Coach Kwesi Appiah for the 2022 World Cup play-offs against Nigeria next month.<\/p>\n

The GFA is in search for a new coach after Milovan Rajevac was sacked in January following the Black Stars\u2019 disastrous performance in the just ended Africa Cup of Nations.<\/p>\n

The Black Stars finished bottom of the group and lost to debutants Comoros Islands in their final game to exit the tournament.<\/p>\n

The GFA is currently in search of an interim coach to lead the team for the World Cup play-offs.<\/p>\n

Reports suggests that officials of the FA want to appoint a coach who has knowledge about the current team to handle the World Cup qualifiers before appointing a substantive coach.<\/p>\n

According to John Paintsil, Coach Kwesi Appiah is the best fit for the interim Black Stars coaching position.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no time at all on our side, I think they should appoint a coach who\u2019s seen it all, Coach Kwasi Appiah is one of the coaches who can handle the Ghana and Nigeria game\u201d, he said on GTV Sports + on the country\u2019s search for a new Black Stars coach.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, former Brighton boss Chris Hughton is reported to be the front runner for the Black Stars job.<\/p>\n

Reports went rife in the media over the weekend that the Irish-born Ghanaian will be named the Black Stars coach in the coming days after a meeting between some government officials and the Ghana Football Association.<\/p>\n

The GFA is yet to officially announce his appointment but GHANAsoccernet.com has gathered that Coach Otto Addo and Ibrahim Tanko may be handed the job for the World Cup qualifiers.<\/p>\n
