Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span> A total of 55 “brilliant but needy” students, pursuing different courses of study in some tertiary institutions in the country, have received scholarship packages to support their education.<\/p>\n

The beneficiaries from the Hohoe Constituency are students at the University of Ghana, Ho Technical University, St. Francis College of Education, University of Cape Coast, St. Teresa’s College of Education, University of Health and Allied Sciences, University of Education, Winneba and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.<\/p>\n

Mr John-Peter Amewu, Hohoe Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) and Minister of Railway Development, who presented the educational package to the beneficiaries, said it was to enable them to pay their fees.<\/p>\n

He said the amounts ranged between GH\u00a21,000 to GH\u00a24,000 per student, depending on the school.<\/p>\n

Mr Amewu noted that the source of funding was from the MP’s Common Fund.<\/p>\n

He said he planned to continue to support the beneficiaries until their graduation once they maintained a good level of academic performance.<\/p>\n

Mr Amewu also hinted at his scholarship programme to support 10 brilliant students from Hohoe to continue their tertiary education at Ivy-league Universities in the US.<\/p>\n

He said the programme was currently ongoing and the students were preparing to write their SAT exams soon.<\/p>\n

Mr Amewu said his agenda to invest in Hohoe’s educational transformation was part of his legacy projects.<\/p>\n

Some of these students were also graduates of the Free Senior High School programme and part of the “Students for Amewu 2020” campaign volunteer group, expressed gratitude to the MP for his kind gesture and support.<\/p>\n

They pledged to exhibit a high level of academic performance to enable them to enjoy the support until graduation.<\/p>\n
