Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Reading defender Andy Yiadom is confident his team can survive relegation this season.<\/p>\n

The Royals are just six points above the drop zone the English Championship table.<\/p>\n

Yiadom since arriving from Barnsley in the summer of 2018 has been a mainstay in the team.<\/p>\n

Reading has conceded 67 goals and the defence has come under fire from the supporters.<\/p>\n

Speaking ahead of the sides match against Millwall on Saturday, Yiadom feels that the squad need to take accountability for their defensive fragilities:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s obvious with some of the scores recently that we are conceding goals- I\u2019m part of the back four so I\u2019ve got to show some accountability. That\u2019s one of the things that we\u2019re working on and we\u2019re doing everything necessary to keep it more secure and not leak as many goals as we are.<\/p>\n

\u201cUs defenders are working very hard, as are we collectively as a group. As a group we\u2019ve all got to be accountable as its 11 players on the pitch so it\u2019s a thing we\u2019ve all got to get right to ensure we do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old is confident Reading can escape relegation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all know where we are in the league. It\u2019s a great squad with a lot of good players, we know what we need to do to get in a better position and that\u2019s what we\u2019re working hard to do. The mood in the squad is good, Josh Laurent is doing my head in with his laugh, I\u2019ve got earache, but the mood\u2019s good, everyone is helping each other, and that togetherness is going to be needed to pick up more points.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a squad everyone is doing what\u2019s best, everyone\u2019s doing more than what\u2019s necessary to help the team stay up so that\u2019s what we\u2019re going to do, and we\u2019re going to carry on doing that. We\u2019re confident but the main thing is to take things one step at a time, and that\u2019s what we\u2019re doing.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re not in the greatest position but at the end of the day we are just working hard to get where we want to be and that\u2019s obviously for Reading to stay in the Championship.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve been relegated at a previous club and I don\u2019t want that feeling again. I want to keep this club up, we all do.”<\/p>\n

Andy Yiadom current contract with the club expires at the end of the season.<\/p>\n
