The site which used to be a habitat for fishes and other water creatures as well as served as a stopover for migrating birds, currently has a large portion being encroached upon by individuals and estate developers.<\/p>\n

Activities of encroachers on the Sakumo Ramsar site are gradually causing the site to lose its natural habitat. The site which used to be a habitat for fishes and other water creatures as well as served as a stopover for migrating birds, currently has a large portion being encroached upon by individuals and estate developers.<\/p>\n

While a vast portion of the site has been encroached upon by developers, some othe parts have been turned into a refuse dumping site which is gradually killing aquatic life in the wetland. Below are some photos of the current state of the site<\/p>\n
