Upper East Regional Minister Hon Tangoba Abayage has thrown a shade at Dr. Vida Yakong, a defeated parliamentary aspirant for the Nabdam constituency in the just ended Parliamentary Primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Vida Yakong who is a lecturer at the University for Development Studies (UDS) for the second time failed to win the parliamentary slot of the NDC in the Nabdam constituency.<\/p>\n

In the view of the regional minister, the female parliamentary hopeful should have focused her attention on campaigning to win the primaries and not chastising the Nana Addo led administration.<\/p>\n

At the end of polls on Saturday, Dr. Vida Yakong polled 72 votes representing 18% of the total votes cast while the Incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane won with 321 votes representing 80%.<\/p>\n

The Upper East regional minister\u2019s jab disguised in an advice appears to be a subtle response to claims by the defeated aspirant that Ghana would crash if the New Patriotic Party is given another four year term in next year\u2019s election.<\/p>\n

Addressing party supporters in Nabdam few days before the primaries, the senior lecturer said \u201cWe should all ensure that our campaign is devoid of violence, intimidation and discrimination. If we do this, it means that we are crashing the party. And when we crash the party, it means our vision for 2020 is going to be meaningless. And if this vision is not realised, the whole of Ghana is going to crash because we know what is happening right now in the country\u201d.<\/p>\n

But Ms. Tangoba Abayage in a Facebook post sighted by\u00a0MyNewsGh.com\u00a0shortly after official results were declared wrote \u201cLast week an NDC Parliamentary candidate from Nabdam constituency was attacking the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo instead of focusing on her internal Primaries. Today she had 18%. Someone should tell her that as human beings we crawl before you walk\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
