Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Just hours after Sweden and Finland submitted their NATO membership applications, the German government decided on Wednesday to give their approval to the admission of both countries to the defence alliance. This allows Germany’s NATO ambassador, R\u00fcdiger K\u00f6nig, to sign the two accession protocols once the internal admissions process has been completed.<\/p>\n

Preparations for the move were already underway in Berlin. President Frank-Walter Steinmeier had in advance given his permission for the necessary documents to be signed, while Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, had previously said there would be a rapid admission process for Sweden and Finland.<\/p>\n
