Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span> Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has charged the players and management of Asante Kotoko S\/C, Ghana\u2019s most-decorated club, to demonstrate resilience and tenacity of purpose as they journey to participate in the 2022\/2023 CAF Champions League.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour focus should be on conquering Africa,\u201d he told the players and management as they presented the 2021\/2022 Ghana Premier League (GPL) trophy they won recently to him, at the Manhyia Palace, Kumasi.<\/p>\n

The King, who is the Life Patron and Spiritual Leader of the Club, said it had been a while since the Porcupine Warriors made any significant appearance at the continental stage.<\/p>\n

Two-times African champions, Kotoko, adjudged the African Club of the Century by the International Football Federation of History and Statistics, last won the Champions League in 1983.<\/p>\n

In all, the Porcupine Warriors have made 16 appearances at the elite level of continental football, making it to the grand-finale on seven occasions. They played their last grand-finale of the Champions League in 1993, losing to the eventual winners, Nadi Al-Ahly of Egypt on penalties.<\/p>\n

Otumfuo Osei Tutu reminded the team of the task ahead, saying it was expected of the players to unite and go all out to make an impact in Africa. He cautioned the playing body to refrain from practices that had the tendency to dent the hard-won reputation of the Club.<\/p>\n

The Kotoko Life Patron congratulated the team for winning its 25th GPL title. Nana Yaw Amponsah, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kotoko, said the team was grateful to the Asantehene for his spiritual and material support.<\/p>\n
