Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister, has cautioned contractors working on the government\u2019s \u201cAgenda 111\u201d hospital projects across the country against shoddy work, urging them to make quality work delivery a hallmark.<\/p>\n

She said though contractors were expected to complete those health facilities as scheduled, consultants and beneficiary Districts ought to monitor and ensure required specifications and standards would be guaranteed.<\/p>\n

The Regional Minister gave the caution when she inspected ongoing works at the Sunyani West Municipal Hospital under the \u201cAgenda 111\u201d being constructed at Odomase, the Municipal capital, as part of her day\u2019s visit to the Municipality.<\/p>\n

Consar Limited, a Kumasi-based Italian-Ghanaian building construction and civil engineering company, is putting up the 100-bed capacity hospital with a mortuary, wards and other auxiliary facilities.<\/p>\n

Madam Owusu-Banahene explained that the Government had prioritized the \u201cAgenda 111\u201d health projects that would enable, particularly people in deprived communities to easily access quality healthcare delivery at their doorposts to help improve their health status.<\/p>\n

She said good health did not only enhance the general well-being of the people but also productivity, culminating in poverty reduction and wealth-creation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen people are sick it affects and slows down their economic activities.\u201d Madam Owusu-Banahene said she was highly impressed with the progress of work and asked the contractors to speed up to complete the hospital on time.<\/p>\n

Mr Santhana Kathrick, the Project Manager of the Company, said work done was about eight per cent and appealed for an extension of electricity to the site to improve security. He said with power extension, contractors could work at night and promised to complete and hand over the project by June 2023.<\/p>\n

The regional minister also paid courtesy calls to the Awuah-Domase and Odomase Number One Traditional Councils in the Municipality and appealed to the chiefs to support the successful implementation of government policies and programmes to benefit the populace.<\/p>\n

She said, in particular, that the implementation of the Electronic Transaction Levy (e-levy) would succeed if the chiefs and queens took the lead in educating the masses on its benefits so that Government could mobilize the required revenue for development.<\/p>\n

Madam Owusu-Banahene also addressed a durbar of staff of the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly and cautioned them against apathy and absenteeism that could slow down productivity and drawback development.<\/p>\n
