Jordan Ayew has began the season in an explosive form, shaming many of his critics, after a fine tournament at the African Cup of Nations 2019 where he netted twice to his inspiring form in Palace’s opener against the toffees.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After his impressive start against Everton, Jordan only found himself on the substitutes bench in Palace’s next game against newcomers Sheffield united where he was\u00a0 replaced by Christian Benteke but that did little to dampen his confidence as he not only scored against Manchester united but put in a man of the match display.<\/p>\n

Most Palace fans were startled when the club confirmed that they had made Jordan Ayew’s loan spell from Swansea city permanent as he only scored a solitary goal in the Premier league last season.<\/p>\n

The club’s fan-base blamed his purchase as part of a a bad transfer this summer by chairman Steve Parish more especially after selling right back Aron Wan Bissaka for nearly 50 million pounds without any signing of intent.<\/p>\n

Despite surviving last year Palace’s Achilles heel was where to get goals aside Wilfred Zaha so many were of the opinion that the Eagles will plunder the Wan Bissaka cash into the tranfer market for a proven goal getter but that was not the case.<\/p>\n

After been linked with stellar signings such as Michy Batshuayi and the likes the club ended up signing Jordan Ayew, James McCarthy and been stuck with the\u00a0 goal shy Christian Benteke and the perpetually injured Conor Wickham.<\/p>\n

The supremely gifted son of Ghanaian maestro Abedi Pele has always divided opinions failing to get the credit his talents deserve with critics of the assertion that he has the career he is having due to his father’s name in the game.<\/p>\n

But with recent outings at the Afcon 2019 and his recent displays I believe the nay sayers mmay be re-writing their notes with his manager Roy Hodgson not any different.<\/p>\n

The gaffer dropped the forward for the trip to Sheffield United last week after a solid outing in the season opener against Everton.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been more than decent in both games,\u201d Hodgson said after re-calling him for the Old Trafford win.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was unlucky to lose his place last week when I played two up-front at Sheffield and chose Wilf (Zaha) instead to partner Christian Benteke.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was very unfortunate to lose his place and he was quite entitled to say \u2018I deserve to play in the team because I played so well against Everton.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cBut there was no doubt in my mind I was going to bring him back to this game.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had a specific job to so apart from being a centre forward and holding the ball up, beating players and scoring goals.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe important job he had to do was making sure Paul Pogba couldn\u2019t come deep and spray passes all over the field and he did that job exceptionally well.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
