Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Engage Now Africa (ENA), an international non-governmental organisation with the vision to heal, rescue and lift people in Africa, has educated people of Mafi-Dugame on modern child trafficking and its effect.<\/p>\n

Youths, school children, traditional and christian leaders were informed on ways they could identify modern day child trafficking, its effects and how to avoid them.<\/p>\n

Mr Afasi Komla, the Director in charge of End Modern Day Trafficking at ENA, said modern day slavery manifested in many cunning ways with the popular ones being tagged us working opportunities both in Ghana and Abroad.<\/p>\n

He asked children to make good use of the internet since there was a lot of good and bad information there. Mr Daniel Opoku Boateng, the Social Welfare Department in the Central Tongu District, said Child trafficking was a phenomenon in the Central Tongu district.<\/p>\n

“We even have the elites engaging in child trafficking, just last year we rescued four children,” he said.<\/p>\n

Torgbui Dordoe IV, the chief of Mafi Zortikpo, lauded “Engage Now Africa” for bringing enlightenment to his people on the subject. He asked parents to make it their utmost responsibility to be concerned about their children.<\/p>\n

The parents were also happy that “Engage Now Africa” would partner the Social Welfare Department to protect, monitor and serve as an advisory board to both the parents and the children.<\/p>\n

July 30th has been set aside by the United Nations to always find means to end modern day child trafficking. This year’s celebration was on the theme: “Use and abuse of technology.”<\/p>\n
