Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Hearts of Oak youngster Enock Asubonteng is looking ahead to a successful campaign as the 2022-23 season is a week away from commencing with the Ghana Premier League kicking off next week.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old has admitted his performance in the last season was non-satisfactory and is working towards making amends in the upcoming season.<\/p>\n

“Last season was more of a rollercoaster season for me and I must admit that things didn’t go the way I wanted it,” Asubonteng told GHANAsoccernet.com in an exclusive interview.<\/p>\n

“I know my abilities and capabilities so I will say I wasn’t satisfied with my performance for Hearts of Oak.<\/p>\n

“I think it’s because I didn’t have enough of pre-season training with the team when I joined. I couldn’t bond so well with my then new teammates.<\/p>\n

Asubonteng joined the Phobians in August last year from WAFA SC for an undisclosed amount.<\/p>\n

The highly-rated forward made his debut for Hearts few weeks later in the CAF Champions League preliminary round when they beat Guinean side CI Kamsar at the Accra Sports Stadium.<\/p>\n

He went ahead to make 25 appearances in all competitions, played 17 games in the Ghana League, 2 matches in the Champions League and 2 in the Confederation Cup.<\/p>\n

He also played a significant role in the club’s FA Cup triumph as they defended the title by beating Bechem United in the final.<\/p>\n

However, Asubonteng is optimistic of a successful campaign when the new season after having what seem to be a “very good” pre-season.<\/p>\n

“Of course I will make amends in the new season. I’m so much confident that it will be successful for me and the entire team as well.<\/p>\n

“The kind of pre-season I have had with team is really good for me to excel. I have now bonded so well in the players and that’s so refreshing.<\/p>\n

“I can’t give outright figures as to the number goals and assists I will produce this season but I will be key in the scheme things for Phobia. You can count on me.”<\/p>\n

Asubonteng is already up and running in the pre-season having scored when Hearts beat lower-tier side Future Stars in a test match last Wednesday.<\/p>\n
