The Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) has completed its regional congress in five regions as the party intensifies preparations towards the 2020 election.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So far, the party has held congresses and elected regional executives in the Upper West, Upper East, North East, Savannah and Northern regions.<\/p>\n

Each region has eight executives occupying various positions. The positions are regional chairman, regional vice chairman, secretary, education secretary, regional organiser, regional women\u2019s organiser, youth organiser and treasurer.<\/p>\n

Briefing the Daily Graphic regarding the party\u2019s preparedness for next year\u2019s election, the Leader of the GCPP, Dr Henry Herbert Lartey, said the party last Saturday held its Northern regional congress in Tamale where it elected its executives.<\/p>\n

The election in Tamale saw Mr Alhassan Issahaku and Mr Osman Napari being elected as the Regional Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively.<\/p>\n

The other executives are as follows: Mr Abdulai Osam (Secretary); Mr Ibrahim Rashid (Education Secretary); Mr Ziblim Saani (Organiser); Madam Laila Tuferu (Women\u2019s Organiser); Mr Ahmed Seidu Bashitu (Youth Organiser) and Mr Dawuda Abdul Hanan (Treasurer).<\/p>\n

Other regions<\/p>\n

Dr Lartey said election was ongoing in the Ashanti Region, after which the remaining 10 regions would proceed to organise theirs.<\/p>\n

He said the elections were being done in batches to ensure that the party did not face challenges and also elect qualified and determined members who would be able to help win power in 2020.<\/p>\n

In all, Dr Lartey said, the party would have 128 regional executives whose mandate would be to lead the constituency executives to undertake grass-roots campaign ahead of next year\u2019s election.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur executives are qualified and energetic young men who have been prepared for massive campaign next year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On the national congress where the party would elect its national chairman who will double as the flag bearer for the presidential election in 2020, Dr Lartey said the party intended to hold it in December once the regional election of executives was done.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs soon as we are done with the national congress, we will roll out our 2020 campaign nationally although we have started at the grass-roots level,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Asked about the party\u2019s 2020 campaign message, Dr Lartey, whose party placed fourth in the presidential election in 2012, said it would still be on the domestication agenda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
