Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Prudential Bank Limited, a leading indigenous bank for the fourth consecutive year has donated a Nissan pick-up vehicle towards the upcoming Ghana Teachers annual awards at a short ceremony at the premises of Ghana Teaching Council.<\/p>\n

The vehicle is the award for the first runner-up winner of this year\u2019s Ghana Teachers Prize, launched last August in Accra.<\/p>\n

Mr Thomas Broni, Executive Head Operations<\/a>, of the bank, who made the presentation, said that Prudential Bank\u2019s support for education is consistent with its commitment to ensuring that society benefits from the business operations of the bank.<\/p>\n

He said the bank is honoured to partner the Ministry of Education, the National Teaching Council, the Ghana Education Service, the Ghana Teacher Prize brand and allied institutions to motivate teachers.<\/p>\n

Mr Broni further stated that quality education for the citizenry is critical for the growth and development of the nation and the teacher is at the centre of the realisation or otherwise of this aspiration.<\/p>\n

As the theme for the 2022 World Teachers\u2019 Day celebration states, \u201cthe transformation of education begins with teachers\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cEducational transformation requires making deliberate positive systemic changes to the prevailing educational model. Clearly, if teachers do not play their role in the educational transformation process, there would be no transformation in the country\u2019s educational system.<\/p>\n

The bank\u2019s support for the Teacher Prize Award <\/a>over the years is thus aimed at motivating teachers to continuously play their vital role in Ghana\u2019s educational transformation agenda and to continue to inspire teachers to give off their best,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Dr Christian Addai-Poku, Registrar of the National Teaching Council (NTC) who received the new vehicle on behalf of the Ghana Teacher Prize, commended the bank for its contribution towards motivating teachers to work efficiently and effectively.<\/p>\n

He said teachers have contributed to the quality of education in the country and should be awarded, to help instil competition among them for effective delivery.<\/p>\n

He congratulated in advance, all teachers who would emerge as award winners at the upcoming ceremony, and urged other teachers to work hard to be winners next year.<\/p>\n

Dr Addai-Poku said, recognising teachers who have exceptionally executed their mandate is in the right direction and he is glad that Prudential Bank Limited is associated with this good call.<\/p>\n

He further reiterated that other corporate bodies should emulate what Prudential Bank is doing in the educational space. The awards scheme is in recognition of hardworking teachers and their contribution to the improvement of teacher ethics and education outcomes in the country.<\/p>\n

The Ghana Teacher Prize started 27 years ago as \u201cBest Teacher Awards\u201d but it was rebranded in 2018 as \u201cGhana Teacher Prize\u201d which mimics the global standards in rewarding hard-working teachers across the country.<\/p>\n

Over the years, deserving teachers have won several prizes such as houses, cars, as well as other financial rewards to inspire other teachers to follow suit.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s Ghana Teacher Prize ceremony comes off in Tamale.<\/p>\n
