Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Abraham Kotei Neequaye, has engaged the Military Police to provide adequate security for the next edition of the De-Luxy Professional Boxing League.<\/p>\n

He disclosed that the Military Police would augment the already established security set-up at the event to ensure maximum security for the audience. “We are also going to screen and prune down fans who come in to watch the bouts,” he told Graphic Sports in an exclusive interview in Accra last Thursday.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the commotion which characterized the last edition of the league, Mr. Neequaye described the incident as unfortunate and gave an assurance that plans were far advanced to address it.<\/p>\n

“Some people came there just to foment trouble, and we have gathered information that some are being deliberately sent there by those against the league to cause disturbances, but they will not succeed,” he noted.<\/p>\n

He revealed that security would be top-notch in the next edition and therefore assured patrons of their safety. He also hinted that more exciting bouts at all levels of the sport would be held in the next edition.<\/p>\n

“The league is not only for professionals. We are growing boxing so we also want to involve the juveniles and the amateurs like we are doing currently,” he explained.<\/p>\n

He called on boxing fans and all Ghanaians to support the league to continue to provide a livelihood for boxers, managers, trainers, ring officials and other auxiliary workers.<\/p>\n
