{"id":3100,"date":"2019-09-14T12:16:31","date_gmt":"2019-09-14T12:16:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/ghana\/?p=3100"},"modified":"2019-09-14T12:16:31","modified_gmt":"2019-09-14T12:16:31","slug":"8-die-in-gory-accident-on-kintampo-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ghana\/all-news\/8-die-in-gory-accident-on-kintampo-road","title":{"rendered":"8 die in gory accident on Kintampo road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A gory accident has occurred on the Techiman-Kintampo highway around Tuobodom on Friday 13th September 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>With at least eight persons\u00a0 feared dead and scores injured at Tuobodom in the Bono East region on the Techiman-Kintampo highway.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The accident involved a Mercedes Benz truck with the registration number AS 9554G and a taxi cab with the registration number BA 1356 P.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming the news, the Bono East MTTD Regional Commander, ASP Andrews Okonengye said the truck which was conveying school desks collided head-on with the Taxi which had passengers travelling from Kranka in the Nkoranza North district to Techiman.<\/p>\n<p>According to the police they had a distress call on Friday at about 2 pm that a fatal accident had occurred on that stretch.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the truck one Yaw Offin, 50,\u00a0 was moving towards Kintampo from Techiman but lost control of the truck.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen he got to Tuobodom, the driver lost control of the vehicle and just on the verge of falling, a taxi cab coming from the opposite direction been driven by Kwame Mensah, 26, with four other people on board and crashed into it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe impact was so great such that the cargo truck turned around to face the opposite direction,\u201d ASP Okonengye narrated.<\/p>\n<p>Six people died on the spot while two were rescued and sent to the hospital by officers of the Ghana National Fire Service.<\/p>\n<p>The two injured passengers died two hours after they were admitted at the hospital. In all, there were two females and six males.<\/p>\n<p>Police have identified all the deceased except one of them and the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Techiman Holy Family Hospital.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A gory accident has occurred on the Techiman-Kintampo highway around Tuobodom on Friday 13th September 2019.
