Second-hand clothing shipped to Togo from charity shops in Paris is now being exported back to the French capital to be resold.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to a new\u00a0BBC report,\u00a0Parisians are resulting to \u201ca canny vintage dealer in Paris\u201d who stocks the pieces from Togo.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The self-proclaimed vintage dealer\u00a0Amah Ayivi\u00a0has lived in Paris since he was 12 years old and\u00a0told the BBC\u00a0that most of the items being shipped to Lom\u00e9 the capital city of Togo are not needed in the country.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re sending them to Africa and most of it we don\u2019t need here \u2013 like coats and furs. I select it with my guys, send it back to Europe and we sell it. Much of it is unsold stock of charity shop donations, costing less than $1 (\u00a30.81) each. Mostly what I want, people don\u2019t buy.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In his interview with BBC, Ayivi stated that he ships \u201ca staggering four tonnes of clothing back to Europe\u201d each time he travels to restock.<\/p>\n

Items are cleaned, restored and sometimes customised before they go on sale in Paris.\u00a0Customers say they like the \u201cunique\u201d clothes and \u201cglobal outlook\u201d,\u00a0says Ayivi.<\/p>\n

He returns to sell them at his\u00a0March\u00e9 Noir\u00a0concept store in Paris, some of the items are sold for as high as \u00a0$220.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
