Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Nigerian artist, Temilade Openiyi known in showbiz circles as Tems has earned her first Grammy award for her contribution to Future’s hit single ‘Wait For U’.<\/b><\/p>\n

Tems’ vocals were sampled on the single that also features Canadian megastar rapper Drake.<\/p>\n

The 65th grammy award<\/b> hosted the world’s greatest artists at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 5.<\/p>\n

Tems\u2019 27, is also the first non-mixed Nigerian female musician to win the prestigious award under the \u2018Best Melodic Rap performance\u2019 category.<\/p>\n

Sade Adu<\/b>, who won the Grammy for \u2018Best new artist\u2019 in 1986, and Cynthia Erivo<\/b>, who bagged \u2018Best theatre Album\u2019 in 2017, were British Nigerians<\/p>\n

The Afrobeats singer<\/b> has added this to her list of accomplishments following her Africa Future awards win and her Oscar nomination<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Burna loses out<\/b><\/p>\n

Afrobeat artiste 5\u2018Burna boy<\/b>\u2019 lost his nominations in both categories. The African giant was beaten by Japan\u2019s Masa Takumi to win the best Global Album category and South African\u2019s Zake Bantwini, Wouter Kellerman and Nomcebo Zikode to win the Best Global music performance category.<\/p>\n
