Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, best known as Napo has fired back at Alumni at the Continental Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), maintaining that his membership of the hall ended after graduating from the university.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alumni of Conti Hall have accused the Education Minister of not fighting to stop the conversion of the all-male hall into a mixed one.<\/p>\n

What broke the camel\u2019s back, they claim was the Minister\u2019s letter to KNUST\u2019s Council asking them not to convert only Kantanga Hall into a mixed hall.<\/p>\n

This position, the Conti alumni argued amounted to a betrayal of the oath the Education Minister took while at the hall. They have, therefore, stripped him off the title of holding himself as an alumnus of the hall.<\/p>\n

In response, Dr Opoku-Prempeh said he was surprised because he had never associated himself with the hall.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have never been to Conti meeting because I did not know such a thing exists, so I\u2019m surprised I have been stripped off,\u201d he stated on Asempa FM\u2019s\u00a0Ekosii Sen\u00a0programme, Tuesday.<\/p>\n

NAPO, as he is popularly called, said two years before graduating from KNUST; he moved to Valco Hall at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but \u201cmore importantly, I\u2019m an alumnus of a university not a hall.\u201d<\/p>\n

because he recommended both Katanga and Conti should not be converted but the final decision rests with the university council.<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernment said we disagree with the hall conversion policy but the university council took the final decision,\u201d NAPO added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
