{"id":3428,"date":"2019-09-19T13:10:34","date_gmt":"2019-09-19T13:10:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/ghana\/?p=3428"},"modified":"2019-09-19T13:10:34","modified_gmt":"2019-09-19T13:10:34","slug":"meet-the-ucc-graduate-who-sells-processed-palm-nut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ghana\/economy\/meet-the-ucc-graduate-who-sells-processed-palm-nut","title":{"rendered":"Meet the UCC graduate who sells processed palm nut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A group of oil palm fruits on the white background<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tired of waiting for a white-collar job, enterprising graduate of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) decided to try his luck by processing palm nut into a soup base.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Abraham Obo put his Bachelor in Management Studies aside and put his destiny into his own hands.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With very small money, he launched his dream business with mortar and pestle in his mother\u2019s small kitchen.<\/p>\n<p>Sharing his story on\u00a0Y\u2019asem Nie\u00a0segment on Adom FM\u2019s morning show,\u00a0Dwaso Nsem, Wednesday, the young man said being jobless for many years motivated him to venture into food production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I wanted to start, I didn\u2019t have a dime on me but I was still determined. I looked around and thought of something that I could be good at and I came up with this idea of packaged palm nut,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>However, the road to success has been very slippery as he had to use man-power in his production which is also time-consuming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wake up at dawn and pound the palm fruit, remove the nuts and package it for the market. You can see I have good muscles now,\u201d he jokingly told show sit-in host, Omanhene Kwabena Asante.<\/p>\n<p>Determined to succeed, the graduate said he was able to mobilise funds and acquire a small machine to do the compressing of the palm nut into cakes for easy packaging.<\/p>\n<p>Under the brand name\u00a0Ready Ab3,\u00a0the young entrepreneur said his sweat has really paid off and is hoping to expand production.<\/p>\n<p>Asked how his family feels about his chosen career, the entrepreneur said \u201cmy father is very proud and likes what I am doing.
