Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri Frank Annoh-Dompreh has said his colleague lawmaker who is on the side of the Minority, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor got it wrong in his comments on the awards and medals that were given to recognized Ghanaians by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addoon Tuesday, March 14.<\/b><\/p>\n

The opposition legislator, Mr Dafeamekpor had said in a tweet regarding the awards that \u201cToday, this government has made the Elephant, the Political symbol of the NPP, our National Symbol so much that it sits on Medals being awarded at a State Event.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven Dr. Kwame Nkrumah didn\u2019t change our National Symbols to reflect the Cpp Cockrel when he declared a 1 party state. Sad.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur famed and favourite National Colours of Red, Gold and Green with a Black Star to match have been discarded in favour of the Npp colors of Blue, Red, White and Black. We are being taught very harsh & bitter lessons in governance by this President and his Appointees.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, in a rebuttal, Mr Annoh-Dompreh who is also Majority Chief Whip said \u201cMy friend Dafeamekpor, you obviously got it wrong on the awards & medals.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt may be inadvertent. But, I think you should simply apologise to the presidency and the awardees & let us move on with life. Show the Casford spirit in you, gentlemen. Peace Nelson!,\u201d he added without giving further details as to why his colleague erred.<\/p>\n

My friend Dafeamekpor, you obviously got it wrong on the awards & medals. It may be inadvertent. But, I think you should simply apologise to the presidency & the awardees & let us move on with life.<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo also explained that the awards ceremony was to honour selected Ghanaians was a purely national event, devoid of partisan, ethnic or religious considerations.<\/p>\n

He said it was organised solely in recognition of the services offered by its recipients to the growth, development, progress and prosperity of Ghana.<\/p>\n

\u201cI, as the President of the Republic, the Fount of Honour, act as the Head of State, and not as Head of Government, in the distribution of awards.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can happily say that I am not aware of the political sympathies or views of the overwhelming majority of today\u2019s awardees. Their politics is of no moment to me, only their exploits in favour of Mother Ghana,\u201d Mr Akufo-Addo said in a Facebook post after the event.<\/p>\n
