It has emerged that the majority of the dams being constructed in the five Northern regions under the one-village-one-dam initiative is in the strongholds of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Minister of Special Development Initiative, Mavis Hawa Koomson, who revealed this on Adom FM\u2019s morning show,\u00a0Dwaso Nsem, Friday, said about 90 of the dams are in NDC strongholds in Upper East and West regions.<\/p>\n

She is, therefore, surprised the same people will turn around to chastise such a project which will sustain their constituents during the dry season.<\/p>\n

The NDC has always had doubts about the feasibility of the flagship one-village-one-dam project by the Akufo-Addo-led administration.<\/p>\n

Even those being done in the Northern regions, the opposition party has described them as dugouts, hence do not qualify to be called dams.<\/p>\n

Former President John Mahama also joined the bandwagon when he said \u201cthey [government] refused to answer and the reality has caught up with them. These are dugouts. In some cases, they do not even qualify as dugouts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reacting to this, Koomson said it was obvious progress made was giving the Minority Members of Parliament (MPs) nightmares.<\/p>\n

She said even if the NDC\u2019s dugout claim is anything to go by, it is better than nothing.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur dam is not a dugout but even if it is so, what did they do to solve the water challenges in the North\u201d she quizzed.<\/p>\n

The Special Development Initiative Minister urged constituents who will benefit from the dams to vote against Minority MPs mocking the project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
