The Upper West Regional directorate of the Ghana Highway Authority have met a 48 hour deadline that was given by the Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr Kwasi Amoako Attah to fix the deplorable portion of the Wa-Tumu Bolga road that was swept away by a heavy downpour in Demajan in the Sissala East District of the Upper East Region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The portion of the road that had been washed away was posing problems for motorist and road users but since the minister’s directive, the\u00a0 Regional Highway Authority have moved swiftly to repair the debilitating portions of the road.<\/p>\n

It has paved way for free traffic flow on that portion of the Wa-Tumu Bolga road with road users happy about the swift efforts in addressing the problem.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the issue in an interview with Citi News, the Director of Ghana Highway Authority for the Upper West, Nicholas D Brown outlined what went into the repairs and steps needed to be taken to avert such trouble whenever there is heavy downpour.<\/p>\n

“By the grace of God we were able to fix the road and as I speak now we don’t have any problem there.We have raised the road enough that in case there is any other downpour we can maintain the dam.”<\/p>\n

“In fact the contractor as well as the community they need the dam seriously so we are protecting the dam.”<\/p>\n

“Going forward the contractor will provide a spew way and culverts just close to the end of the dam so that any time the rains come it will\u00a0 be able to take the excess water away” he disclosed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
