Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>One of the aspirants for the May 13 primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Madina Constituency has been disqualified.<\/b><\/p>\n

Prince Moses Zakaria was disqualified immediately after his vetting on Monday, April 3 for being a past executive of the United Front Party (UFP). He was the General Secretary.<\/p>\n

Prince Moses Zakaria was the sole contender to incumbent Francis-Xavier Sosu, who annexed the Madina seat for the NDC in the 2020 elections.<\/p>\n

He beat then incumbent Bonfiace Abubabakr Siddique to reclaim the seat for the opposition party.<\/p>\n

The renowned human rights lawyer was also vetted at the regional secretariat of the NDC and came out successful.<\/p>\n

\u201cI say a very big Thank you to God for the opportunity given me to go unopposed. As you are all aware, everybody is at liberty to contest but when you want to contest you must contest in accordance with the rules,\u201d he told TV3<\/b>\u2018s Christian Yalley after his vetting.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving gone through the process, I have been declared as fit for the contest. However, my opponent was declared as unfit, not qualified.\u201d<\/p>\n

He thanked the vetting committee for the thorough process, promising to retain the seat for the NDC.<\/p>\n

But the disqualified aspirant chided the committee for being bias.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe vetting committee has shown its bias for the incumbent. The vetting was one-sided and listened to the constituency executives who were all on the side of Sosu, the incumbent, and by that I find it unfair and I find it unwarranted.\u201d<\/p>\n

He vowed to go independent to win the seat in the Fomena-style.<\/p>\n

In Fomena in 2020, a disqualified candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stood independent after being disqualified. He won the seat and is now the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament.<\/p>\n
