Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Former President John Dramani Mahama has remembered his late former Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur who died on June 29, 2018, after a short illness at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mr Mahama honoured an invitation to participate in the 2nd Kwesi Amissah-Arthur Economic Forum at the University of Ghana on Friday, June 30.<\/p>\n

He said it was an outstanding event.<\/p>\n

The discussions were insightful and informative after a presentation by Dr KY Amoako on the prospects and future of the Ghanaian economy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe late Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, Vice President of Ghana, Governor of the Bank of Ghana and Deputy Minister for Finance, contributed to developing our economic and development policies over many decades.<\/p>\n

\u201cI look forward to continuing to work towards a brighter and better future for Ghana\u2019s economic growth and development.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before becoming Veep in August 2012, he was Governor of the Bank of Ghana from 2009 to 2012.<\/p>\n

From 1983 to 1986, Amissah-Arthur served as a special assistant to the Secretary of Finance and Economic Planning, Kwesi Botchwey under the Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC) government.<\/p>\n

He also served as the Deputy Secretary for Finance in the PNDC government from February 1986 to March 1993.<\/p>\n

From April 1993, he continued as the Deputy Minister for Finance in the under the Fourth Republic\u2019s first government until March 1997.<\/p>\n

Mr. Amissah-Arthur was appointed as Governor of the Bank of Ghana in October 2009 by then-President John Atta Mills.<\/p>\n

He held that position until August 6 2012, when he became Vice-President of Ghana following the death of Atta Mills.<\/p>\n
