Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has filed a counter-petition with the Council of Elders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to dismiss a petition filed against Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah\u2019s recent appointment as Director of Elections and IT.<\/b><\/p>\n

The petition was filed by one Delanyo Agbe, who describes himself \u201cas a concerned NDC supporter and social activist, deeply invested in the progress and success of our party\u201d.<\/p>\n

The petitioner raised issues such as the former Minister of Communication\u2019s lack of expertise in IT and risk to party credibility.<\/p>\n

Delanyo Agbe also cited Dr Omane Boamah\u2019s low youth engagement.<\/p>\n

\u201cElection management and ICT are critical components of modern political campaigning,\u201d he wrote in his petition.<\/p>\n

\u201cDr. Omane Boamah\u2019s medical background, while noteworthy, does not seem to align with the intricate technicalities of information and communication technology and the complexities of electoral processes.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Sam George\u2019s counter-petition vouched for the credentials and credibility of the former Deputy Environment Minister.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy beloved and respected Council of Elders, this particular Party appointment sent the most emphatic signal of our seriousness and resolve to annex power in the 2024 polls,\u201d the Ningo-Prampram lawmaker wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet no one seek to, for whatever motivation, walk back such a positive and pragmatic step<\/p>\n

on which our 2024 electoral victory is anchored.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe appointee \u2013 An ICT Leader, NDC Deputy Campaign Coordinator for the successful 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, and Secretary to the successful 2011 Get Atta Mills Elected (GAME) campaign team \u2013 is loyal, dedicated, focused, analytical and practical.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is a pragmatic perfectionist and is meticulously intentional and thorough. His attention to fine details is rare.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis technical ability is without doubt, and his record is without blemish.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoreover, he has quickly set the entire party structures in readiness, exemplified by his management of the ongoing Limited Registration Exercise by the Electoral Commission.\u201d<\/p>\n

He, therefore, urged the Council of Elders to \u201cdismiss the said petition with alacrity as it has the propensity to shift the focus of the appointee from the solemn task we have handed him\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cDr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah is an asset to our great tradition, and we must use this as an example that our Party appreciates the sacrifice of young people and truly believes in their abilities to deliver whenever the need arises.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am a young man deeply connected to the \u2018streets of Ghana\u2019, and I can assure you that the appointee is the best choice at this given time.\u201d<\/p>\n
