Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>An Accra High Court has struck out an injunction filed by the Ghana Police Service against organisers of the Democracy Hub protest.<\/b><\/p>\n

The injunction had been filed and served lawyers of Democracy Hub, Atuguba & Associates, on September 19, according to the police.<\/p>\n

But denial of service by the Democracy Hub, the organisers, resulted in a back-and-forth with the police.<\/p>\n

This affected the first day of the three-day protest as the police saw all those who gathered at the converging point, the 37 Lorry Station, as defying its orders as duly warned.<\/p>\n

They were, however, released the same day, Thursday, September 21, only to return on Friday and Saturday to complete the demonstration.<\/p>\n

While striking out the application after it was withdrawn by the police, Presiding Judge Edward Twum noted that although the court processes were served on the solicitors of the respondent, there was, however, no proof of service to Benjamin Akuffo Darko, the respondent in the matter.<\/p>\n

Justice Twum hence indicated that since there was no order from the court and the protest had already taken place, the only other option was for the application to be withdrawn since it had been rendered moot.<\/p>\n
