{"id":55719,"date":"2023-10-02T06:40:03","date_gmt":"2023-10-02T06:40:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ghana\/?p=55719"},"modified":"2023-10-02T06:34:13","modified_gmt":"2023-10-02T06:34:13","slug":"bost-admits-buying-18-iphones-for-staff-but","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ghana\/all-news\/bost-admits-buying-18-iphones-for-staff-but","title":{"rendered":"BOST admits buying 18 iPhones for staff but. . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Ghana. <\/strong><\/span><b>The Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Limited Company (BOST) has responded to reports that it bought 18 iPhone 13 Pro Max phones for some staff at a total cost of over GH\u00a228 million.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In a statement in response to the reports, BOST admits buying the phones for its corporate executives in May, last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe total cost of the phones stood at Two Hundred and Thirty-Four Thousand Ghana Cedis (234,000.00) grossed up for taxes at Two Hundred and Eighty-Five Thousand, Four Hundred and Twelve Ghana Cedis, Sixteen Pesewas (GHS285,412.16),\u201d the response issued by the Corporate Communications and External Affairs Department on Saturday, September 30 said.<\/p>\n<p>It indicated that the amount was captured in the financial report of the company.<\/p>\n<p>It added that the report has been audited by the Auditor General and the decision has been vetted without any adverse findings made about same.<\/p>\n<p>BOST, however, observed that there was an error with the placement of the dot in the amount as typed in report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Twenty-Eight Million, Five Hundred and Forty-One Thousand, Two Hundred and Sixty-One Ghana Cedis (GHS28,541,261.00) in the report may be due to a typographical error of placing the dot(.) two steps to the right which on the face of the document converted the GHS285,412.61 to GHS28,541,261.00.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe public is hereby entreated to ignore the claim that the company bought eighteen (18) phones at 28 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is both erroneous and mischievous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It justified the purchase of the phones, saying it is \u201cto equip the team to stay in touch with the management information and business intelligence systems of the company for efficient<\/p>\n<p>decision making\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the petroleum storage and transportation space, a split second can make the difference between success and failure.
