{"id":56278,"date":"2023-10-08T06:32:35","date_gmt":"2023-10-08T06:32:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ghana\/?p=56278"},"modified":"2023-10-08T05:29:47","modified_gmt":"2023-10-08T05:29:47","slug":"ghanas-economic-growth-better-than-we-anticipated-imfs-mission-chief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ghana\/all-news\/ghanas-economic-growth-better-than-we-anticipated-imfs-mission-chief","title":{"rendered":"Ghana\u2019s economic growth better than we anticipated \u2013 IMF\u2019s Mission Chief"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Ghana. <\/strong><\/span><b>The Chief of Mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Ste\u0301phane Roudet, has confirmed that Ghana\u2019s economic recovery is turning out to exceed expectations.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we are seeing in terms of growth dynamics is better than what we were anticipating,\u201d Mr Roudet said on Friday, October 6.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think this is very good news,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The IMF Chief of Mission was speaking at a joint press conference held at the Ministry of Finance with the sector minister, Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta, in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>The press conference follows recent meetings with the IMF Mission over the $3-billion external credit facility (ECF) Ghana is currently undergoing with the Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Roudet was happy a lot of the indicators are improving and showing favourable signs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInflation is coming down, international reserves of the central bank are going up which is also very important to boost confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that the economy is generally experiencing a turnaround.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, clearly there is a turnaround, there is an improvement and signs of macroeconomic stability are now emerging.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He, however, cautioned the authorities not to rest on their oars but to strive to improve the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Finance Minister Ofori-Atta expressed confidence that the country is on the right path to economic recover.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlready, the economy is responding positively, strongly to the news of the GoG and the IMF reaching an LSA for the first review and we are eager to leverage on this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ghana\">Ghana<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Ghana.
