Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng has said he sacrificed a lot during the four-year period he served in President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo\u2019s government.<\/b><\/p>\n

He stated that he had two hospitals and other businesses running but had to redirect his attention to the ministerial work.<\/p>\n

Above all, he said, he did not have much time for his grandchildren.<\/p>\n

Speaking to TV3\u2019s Kemini Amanor in the Hot Issue on TV3 on Sunday, October 22, he said \u201cServing in government was for me a sacrifice, I had to sacrifice a lot to serve in our government. Other people may see it as a privilege or as a means to make money but to me, it was a big sacrifice serving in government. It is my pleasure to have been given the chance to serve this nation and I think that I did my work very well.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do other things, I run two hospitals I have other businesses that, family things that I had to cater for. some of these things suffered above all, I didn\u2019t have much time for my grandchildren. I am not bitter, a lot came from my appointment. You will not find many ministers who achieved what I achieved within the four years that I served.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prof Frimpong-Boateng further said he is not a traitor to the cause of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following his criticisms of the government of the day.<\/p>\n

He said he desired to make the governing NPP and Ghana as a whole stronger.<\/p>\n

Speaking with TV3\u2019s Kemini Amanor on the Hot Issues on TV3 Sunday, October 22, he said \u201cI don\u2019t think I am criticizing or attacking the government, no. The president said were should be citizens and not spectators so I am offering my views to make the party stronger and Ghana a better place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked whether he would consider himself a traitor in the NPP? he answered \u201cNot at all. I am patriotic, that is what I will say. The word traitor is too far away from my dwelling place.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Former Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), authored a 36-page document titled \u201cReport on the work of IMCIM so far and the way forward\u201d which made several allegations of government officials neck deep in illegal small-scale mining (Galamsey.)<\/p>\n

The report alleged that some government officials and private citizens were involved in galamsey.<\/p>\n

The Attorney-General Godfred Dame looked at the report and subsequently issued its advice to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).<\/p>\n

The advice noted that all of the individuals named in Prof Frimpong- Boateng\u2019s report denied the various allegations made against them in the report.<\/p>\n

According to Mr Dame, several attempts by the Police to obtain further information from Professor Frimpong Boateng to substantiate the allegations in the Report and to assist them in conducting further investigations proved futile.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Professor refused to provide any further information to the police,\u201d the A-G said.<\/p>\n

According to the A-G, Prof Frimpong-Boateng also declined to give a written statement, claiming his Report is \u2018an embodiment of his statement\u2019 and all the information he has on the allegations\u201d \u2013 the Chief State Attorney, Mrs. Keelson stated.<\/p>\n

The Godfred Dame further stated further that, investigations by the Police have not revealed any evidence in support of the allegations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe allegations are therefore bare and do not provide a basis for any criminal charge against the persons cited in the Report\u201d \u2013 the Advice stated.<\/p>\n

But Prof Frimpong-Boateng denied the Attorney-General\u2019s claim.<\/p>\n

He told Kemini Amanor that \u201cit is not true, I cooperated with the CID fully, I am not an investigative agent.\u201d<\/p>\n
