Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Head of 3 Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility subsidiary of Media General, Ms. Gillan Heathcote has appealed to manufacturers of water storage tanks to donate some of their products to the victims of flood caused by water spilled from the Akosombo and Kpong dams.<\/b><\/p>\n

This is to enable the affected residents store clean water for cooking and bathing. This request has become necessary following the contamination of the available water sources in their communities.<\/p>\n

The call comes in the wake of donations from the public to the Dam Spillage Relief Fund established by Media General and 3 Foundation, comprising mainly of sachet water for the victims.<\/p>\n

Speaking with OnuaOnline, on October 24, 2023, Ms Gillian Heathcote indicated that, the water storage tanks will provide avenue for water tanker operators to supply the victims with potable water for their domestic activities.<\/p>\n

She emphasised the need to prioritise that since the residents cannot depend solely on the sachet water for survival.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe water in their area is contaminated and one caller suggested that we get them water tanks so that they can store water in them. And I think it is a good call because they cannot depend on the sachet water alone. They will have to cook, wash, and do other domestic chores. They cannot rely on that water for cooking, washing dishes, bathing and others that is why we are calling on the public to donate water tanks. So that as and when it would be needed, water would be put in there for them,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

3 Foundation launched the \u201cDAM SPILLAGE RELIEF FUND\u201d last week to solicit support for those affected by the floods.<\/p>\n

The Foundation is requesting items including food, medicines, clothing, water, books\/educational materials, soaps, detergents, building materials and other relief items from the public for the cause.<\/p>\n

The items can be donated at Media General\u2019s office, Adesa We, Kanda adjacent the Jubilee House, off the Presidential Drive.<\/p>\n

Persons who want to donate money can also do so through the 3 Foundation MoMo number \u2013 0597433110 with reference, Akosombo, or through Merchant number 120494 with the merchant name 3foundation.<\/p>\n

Enquiries about the Fund can also be made through 0243128282.<\/p>\n

Individuals and corporate institutions willing to make donation of items can send them premises from 9am \u2013 5pm daily.<\/p>\n

So far, variety of items from individuals, organisations, groups and corporate bodies ranging from clothes, food, water, and other relief items have come in, ready to be supplied to the victims on October 25, 2023.<\/p>\n
