Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Justin Kodua Frimpong has told aspirants making vote-buying allegations ahead of the flagbearer election to support their allegations with evidence.<\/b><\/p>\n

He said the evidence would help the national executives in investigating the matter properly.<\/p>\n

The camp of flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong had accused one of the contenders in the race, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, of vote-buying and proxy voter manipulation to sway the outcome of the internal election which will take place on November 4.<\/p>\n

In a press release, the head of the communication team Lawyer William Kusi said : \u201cLadies and gentlemen of the press, it has come to the public notice that even though this is an internal election, there have been some practices in the party in which people are trying to use all means to win the super delegates election.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cInformation reaching us indicates that the camp of the vice president is buying the votes of the chairmen and requesting them to register as proxy voters.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is offering as much as fifty thousand Ghana cedis per chairman to accomplish that diabolic agenda.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe call on the party to take immediate action and ensure that there is free and fair elections to avoid any misunderstanding and subsequent protestation after the conduct of the elections,\u201d parts of the letter read.<\/p>\n

When asked for his reaction to this while speaking on Sunday, October 29, Mr Kodu Frimpong said \u201cUnless maybe you caught someone taking money or paying money to a delegate. At the end of the day when a person makes an allegation it should be backed by evidence.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you make allegations and you don\u2019t bring evidence, you want me to be going around asking delegates how much someone gave to them when I don\u2019t have proof.\u201d<\/p>\n
