{"id":58275,"date":"2023-10-30T17:22:15","date_gmt":"2023-10-30T17:22:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ghana\/?p=58275"},"modified":"2023-10-30T15:44:14","modified_gmt":"2023-10-30T15:44:14","slug":"kumasi-rotary-club-organises-free-medical-screening-for-manhyia-prisons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ghana\/all-news\/kumasi-rotary-club-organises-free-medical-screening-for-manhyia-prisons","title":{"rendered":"Kumasi Rotary Club organises free medical screening for Manhyia Prisons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Ghana. <\/strong><\/span><b>The Rotary club of Kumasi has provided free medical screening for inmates of the Manhyia Prisons in Kumasi.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The club also donated musical instruments as well as drugs to the Prisons.<\/p>\n<p>The gesture according to the President of the club Nana Effah Mensah was in response to a request by some officials of the prisons seeking the support of the Kumasi Rotary club.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Effah Mensah said the club has over the years extended support to the Manhyia Prisons hence did not hesitate to come around when the request came in.<\/p>\n<p>He said the highlight of the day was the free medical screening and on the spot treatment with doctors onboard to offer free support when the need arises.<\/p>\n<p>The President further stated that offering free screening and medical support feeds into the 6 focus areas of Rotary which guide their projects and interventions. \u201d This is part of the prevention and treatment vision of Rotary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrison inmates are not outcast\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The President of the Rotary club of Kumasi intimated that prisoners are not outcasts but rather people going through some form of reformation which needed the society\u2019s support. He seized the opportunity to thank their partners for their support towards the exercise.<\/p>\n<p>He thanked Panacea pharmaceuticals, Trinity Hospital and the Manhyia Hospital for their unwavering support towards the activities of Rotary club.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a Deputy Director of Prisons who is also the Commander of Manhyia Prisons Joseph Asabre commended the Rotary club for donating the items and providing them with free medical screening.<\/p>\n<p>He also reiterated the call for society to support in the reformation processes of prisoners . \u201d Though government is doing its best to support the inmates, individuals and groups should also come on board and offer a hand . Crime fighting is a shared responsibility\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Rotary Club of Kumasi is the 2nd oldest Rotary club in Ghana, it is an association of business and professional leaders who strives to promote goodwill, peace, and understanding around the world by performing community service and promoting ethics.
