Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Ghana striker, Raphael Dwamena, has died aged 28 after collaps\u00ading on the pitch during a league match in Albania.<\/b><\/p>\n

Dwamena was playing for Egnatia against Partizani on Sat\u00adurday in the Albania top flight.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite the immediate inter\u00advention of specialist doctors, he unfortunately passed away,\u201d said the Albanian Football Federation (AFF).<\/p>\n

Dwamena was the leading scorer in the Albanian league this season with nine goals. He had won nine caps and scored two goals for his country.<\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s match was aban\u00addoned and the federation has postponed all games scheduled in Albania this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe AFF expresses its deep\u00adest condolences to the Dwamena family and the Egnatia club for this great loss that has shocked the entire Albanian football com\u00admunity,\u201d the federation added.<\/p>\n

The Ghana Football Asso\u00adciation (GFA) said it sent \u201cour deepest condolences to his fami\u00adly at this difficult moment\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe served his country well and showed class any time he represented Ghana,\u201d GFA president, Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku, said in a statement.<\/p>\n

In 2017 a proposed \u00a314m move to Brighton fell through after Dwamena failed a medical. He went on to represent Levante in La Liga and also played for Real Zaragoza on loan.<\/p>\n

In 2021, he collapsed during a cup match in Austria between his side, Blau-Weiss Linz, and Hartberg, but recovered and continued his playing career.<\/p>\n

He reportedly had a heart operation and had an automatic defibrillator implanted.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur thoughts are with his family and his loved ones in these difficult moments. His leg\u00adacy in our club will last forever,\u201d Levante said on social media.<\/p>\n

Zaragoza also paid tribute, saying: \u201cWe are devastated by the sad news of the passing of our former player Raphael Dwamena. You will always be in the memory of Zaragoza \u0301s fans. Rest in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n
