Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The National Democratic Congress (NDC), has congratulated the hard-working farmers and fishers of Ghana on the occasion of this year’s National Farmers Day, which falls Friday, 1st December, 2023.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a press release signed by its General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey, the NDC said Ghana owes them gratitude for their commitment in feeding the nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur country owes a great deal of gratitude to our gallant farmers and fishers who continue to give of their best to feed and sustain the nation, despite the numerous challenges they are faced with,\u201d the release read.<\/p>\n

The largest opposition party, however, bemoaned the fact that many farmers are poor despite their hard work.<\/p>\n

\u201cSadly, the living conditions of many Ghanaian farmers and fisher folk continue to deteriorate due to the regressive and poorly-implemented policies of the failed Akufo-Addo\/Bawumia\/NPP government. Today, Ghana’s food security situation gives considerable cause for concern as the country ranks among the top ten (10) countries in the world with the highest food inflation, according to the World Bank. This has come about as a result of the failure of government’s policies, including its much-touted Planting for Food and Jobs program, to address the challenges confronting the hard-working farmers of the country,\u201d the NDC bemoaned.<\/p>\n

The NDC said it fully appreciates the hydra-headed problems that farmers and fisherfolk are facing and will resolve them given the opportunity to return to power.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have an outstanding track record of implementing policies and programs that promote agricultural production, while prioritising the needs of farmers. Indeed, the National Farmers Day celebration, is a proud legacy of the NDC instituted by President Jerry John Rawlings of blessed memory. The NDC stands ready, under the leadership of H.E John Dramani Mahama, to once again champion policies that will revolutionize the agriculture sector and improve the wellbeing of farmers and fishers,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

The party therefore urged all farmers and fishers across the country not to despair, \u201cbut to look forward to the 24-hour Economy strategy of the next NDC\/Mahama government, which will among other things, drive our agenda to modernize agriculture and promote agro processing, both for domestic consumption and for exports. Hope is on the way and there is light at the end of the tunnel.\u201d<\/p>\n

NDC SALUTES FARMERS AND FISHERS ON THE OCCASION OF THE 39TH NATIONAL FARMERS DAY CELEBRATION<\/p>\n

The leadership and entire membership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), wishes to congratulate the hard-working farmers and fishers of Ghana on the occasion of the celebration of this year’s National Farmers Day, which comes off tomorrow, Friday, 1st December, 2023.<\/p>\n

Our country owes a great deal of gratitude to our gallant farmers and fishers who continue to give of their best to feed and sustain the nation, despite the numerous challenges they are faced with.<\/p>\n

Sadly, the living conditions of many Ghanaian farmers and fisher folk continue to deteriorate due to the regressive and poorly-implemented policies of the failed Akufo-Addo\/Bawumia\/NPP government.<\/p>\n

Today, Ghana’s food security situation gives considerable cause for concern as the country ranks among the top ten (10) countries in the world with the highest food inflation, according to the World Bank.<\/p>\n
