Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Onua Group subsidiary of Media General has launched a foundation to serve the needs of the vulnerable and needy in society.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Group is made up of Onua TV, Onua FM and Onuaonline.com.<\/p>\n

The Foundation, which was launched on December 8, 2023, will serve as the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of the Group.<\/p>\n

Launching the humanitarian initiative, the Managing Director of FC Beauty Clinic and Board Member of Media General, Mrs Grace Ameh Obeng, said the Foundation will create life-impacting opportunities for persons with needs and challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnua Foundation also commits to implementing humanitarian initiatives in partnership with listeners, viewers, clients and the public, to promote social inclusion and equitable access to basic necessities of life, particularly for the needy and deprived communities in Ghana,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Mrs Obeng noted that, \u201cit takes energy, resources passion and commitment to achieve any Foundation’s goal. Foundations are set up essentially to render humanitarian aid, it is not an assignment to expect profits and returns. There is joy in doing good but at the same time it is difficult and thankless. It is love for the people to meet their need and strong commitment that will enable Onua Foundation to achieve their goal.\u201d<\/p>\n

She commended the Management of Onua TV\/FM for the numerous human-centred initiatives it has implemented in the past.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have lived up to your tagline which says \u2018y3 dwene wo hu’. There is no doubt in my mind that you have what it takes to make Onua Foundation successful. You are also already reflecting the Foundation’s tagline \u2018BOAFO PA’ in the way you champion the cause of the less privileged and being a voice for the voiceless,\u201d she stressed.<\/p>\n

The Board Member of Media General therefore, charged the Management team to \u201cgo on. Serve humanity in a manner that will attract support from society to impact lives and livelihoods. Go on, be seen as giving opportunities to the less privileged, lift up the weak and the down-trodden and be a household name for the lives you are impacting.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an address, the General Manager for Onua Group, Stephen Schandorf said the newly launched Onua Foundation marks another milestone in the life of Onua TV and FM. <\/b><\/p>\n

He said the launch of Onua Foundation has been a part of the story of these stations, which started seven years ago for Onua FM and four years ago for Onua TV.<\/p>\n

Onua Foundation is here to impact the lives of communities \u2013 GM Onua Group<\/p>\n

Mr Schandorf indicated that the burning desire that drove Media General to set up its local language stations was borne out of a need to connect with our people in a unique way, understand the people on their own terms and get results for them because media gets results.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnua has been where the people are, in the markets, at their workplaces, in the communities, in the hospitals and CHPS compounds and their churches among others. Onua TV and FM have become familiar with needs of their audiences,\u201dhe said.<\/p>\n

On his part, the Head of News at Onua Group, Abu Issa Monnie, said the launch of Onua Foundation represents a milestone in the life of the Onua Group’s efforts to transform lives and livelihoods in society.<\/p>\n

He said with the launch of the Foundation on Friday, December 8, Management of Onua Group is excited about the prospects of local philanthropy, and looks forward to working with Ghanaians of like minds, who care about the vulnerable and destitute in society.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur focus is to seek and create opportunities that improve the lives of our people, opportunity to be educated, opportunity to become an entrepreneur and be gainfully employed, opportunities to access good health care, opportunity to gain access to good drinking water,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
